Considering one-to-one teaching

Abstract

In examining the perhaps familiar one-to-one teaching context, we seek to explore using a range of identified criteria and lenses and proposed six possible futures of various assignments. One-to-one teaching has a celebrated position within educational models, with its ability to offer an individually tailored curriculum providing a student focused response to learner need. However, within the contemporary context increasingly struggles against students and administrative expectations business case requirements and safeguarding concerns. We briefly offer a series of initial lens, reflecting stakeholder need, by which we begin to evaluate contemporary one-to-one teaching. Consequently, we present some possible futures for consideration. Intending to stimulate thought in anticipation of technological innovation, future employment requirements, cost-effective delivery of education, and societal expectations.
